REAL ANGKOR WAT WORST ENEMY REVIEW EP
REAL ANGKOR WAT WORST ENEMY REVIEW EP
Real Angkor Wat is a crossover thrash act from Texas (USA) made up of Dave BRINKMAN (vocal), Mike Trevino (bass), and W.M. Titsworth (guitarist), that is, members of Angkor Wat’s original crew, that played on the first album (When Obscenity becomes the Norm…Awake, Corpus Christi). Kerry Crafton, who was the producer of the first two albums, carried out mixing and mastering, whereas worst Enemy EP is following in the footsteps of bands such as Suicidal Tendencies, Agnostic Front, Stormtroopers of Death.
The album begins with the song Pressure Valve, featuring a vocal that lends support to the title, followed by riffs that no thrash metal band would be ashamed of.
Walls is also played in the manner of old school crossover thrash, but with a more recent, vibrant energy, by which they convey that they haven’t aged a day.
Barrage, for a moment, resembles a crossover between Slayer and Jane’s Addiction (which is a pure win), but I need to mention the solo, which underlines that there is still room for virtuosos in crossover thrashes, while worst Enemy is kind of a homage to the pioneers of crossover thrash, Suicidal Tendencies.
The last song, Knock Out, even though played at slower pace, doesn’t lack in terms of fierce delivery compared to other tracks on the album, but as such adds special charm to EP.
This is a truly good album (especially if you‘re feeling dissatisfied) and is intended for people trying to get through 2021, so the befitting description for it would spell Pressure Valve.
